Managing Editor
The Irish Emigrant has an opening in our Boston office for the position of Managing Editor. The position involves managing all aspects of editorial contents, newspaper design and proofing. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in reporting and have excellent management skills.
The Irish Emigrant publishes two editions each week – Boston and New York. Since first publishing in the US in 1994, we have developed a very progressive business model, including the use of web based content management.
Duties include:
* Provide leadership and guidance to the Boston and New York editions
* Manage contributors and review all submissions before publication
* Write news reports and articles
* Attend and report on social and community events
* Proof submissions, advertising and other content
* Oversee paper layout and design
* Manage web site content and design
Qualifications guidelines:
* A bachelor's degree in a related area
* At least 5 years of experience in newspaper or magazine reporting
* Proven track record in management or business development
* Strong knowledge of the Irish Community in the US
