Sunday Nursery Caregiver

We are an Episcopal Church that offers Sunday morning nursery care for our parishoners. Nursery care is open to children 18 months to four years old. A Nursery Caregiver is hired by the Vestry, with the approval of the Church School Committee, the Personnel Committee and the Finance Committee, and is directly supervised by the Associate Rector. RESPONSIBILITIES

With Children:

Supervise children in Nursery on Sundays 8:45 a.m. – 12:15 a.m.

Develop curriculum to engage children 18 mos.- 4 yrs.

Maintain a ratio of no more than 4 children to 1 staff person



With Parents:

Be welcoming, assuring and informative

Be proactive about having them sign in, so that you can find them in church

Be kind yet firm about not letting sick children stay

Make sure they are informed of accidents and sign the Accident Report Form



With Staff:

Supervise Nursery Assistants, build their skills and coordinate schedules

Check in with clergy on Sunday so they know the Nursery is staffed

Communicate one month ahead when you expect to be absent

Call Rector and Education Coordinator as soon as possible if you are sick on a work day

Communicate one month ahead when you need to stop working



COMPENSATION

You will receive $15.00 per hour, paid on the 15th and 30th of each month.



REQUIREMENTS

Must be at least 18 years of age

Must submit a written application at time of interview

Must have experience with Nursery aged children

Must have valid references for former work with children

Must attend a Diocesan Safe Church Training within 3 months of start date

Preferably trained in First Aid

Preferably licensed by the Office for Children in Massachusetts
