Inside Sales Rep -- Prospecting to C-Level executives -- Cambridge Location


Our client is a leading provider of professional services to companies looking for help to grow. 


We are looking for a professional inside sales representative to build a funnel of executive relationships for consulting services.

Selling professional services is challenging work and takes a unique skill-set. Since most executives are not ready to "buy" something when first introduced, your  business development activities will consist of engaging executives about the insights and points of view of the firm.  You will explore with executives how they may use our client's services and help the customer to understand the unique approachs our client will take to improve performance in their organization.

This position will take two important qualities for an individual to be successful:  





  • An ability to listen to, engage with, and communicate with senior executives on their specific business issues, within their particular industry -- said another way, we're looking for a senior level person who "gets it", someone with the curiosity and intellectual horsepower to engage with executives on matters of critical importance.






  • Good sales skills, organization and discipline to pro-actively outreach to executives. While our client uses many techniques through various outreach campaigns, your activities will include sending executives interesting articles and engaging in follow up discussions, inviting executives to special events, alerting executives to events in the media that they may be interested in while all the time working to determine their readiness in engaging consulting support.


This individual must be able to quickly develop relationships with executives primarily via the telephone and email exchanges, but also have the professional demeanor to have face-to-face interactions with them during special events.

As part of the qualification process this individual will be required to discuss a prospect's business strategy, gauge interest in the solution for the current challenge, identify the budget for professional services, determine goals and objectives of a possible consulting engagement, and set up next steps to pass along to the consulting sales team.



Skill Requirements


  • Learn and communicate insights, points of view and service offering in marketing and/or growth strategies.

  • Generate and qualify leads through cold calling campaigns

  • Broad knowledge of unrelated industries, and their current challenges

  • Follow up on leads from mail campaigns, speaking events, and seminars

  • Recruit C-level executives to attend “by-invitation-only” executive briefing series

  • Enter all pertinent information gathered during sales calls into the contact management system

  • Use research-based tools to identify and source contacts

  • Navigate prospect accounts to reach key decision makers

  • Demonstrate persistence and overcome obstacles
Additional requirements include:


  • Bachelor's degree

  • 4 to 7 years experience in a sales environment.  Experience in a professional services industry, a plus

  • Outstanding time management and organizational skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills via the phone and internet

  • Demonstrated ability to be proactive and take the initiative to get things done

  • Ability to effectively multi-task is critical (flexible and self-sufficient)

  • Positive attitude, self-motivated, confident and tenacious

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Salesforce.com
