1987 VW Westfalia Vanagon Weekender - $4000

Boston, MA • 08/22/2007

For sale is a 1987 VW Westfalia Weekender. This classic bus is in very good condition, has spent its entire life garaged when not in use, and has been host to many great times for me and my family. It has around 160,000 miles under it’s belt.

Though it has been off the road since mid-2006, this bus runs great. It was last inspected in December of ’05, and passed easily. The cooling system was recently refurbished, a new CV joint was installed, and new batteries were put in, complete with a new switch. In addition, I have installed electrical service, which does not come standard in this model. Connecting to electricity while camping is a great benefit, and the standard VW external port I installed works perfectly. The refrigeration unit is original equipment, which is pretty rare, as they fetch a hefty price sold separately. It has always worked flawlessly, and has kept our drinks and food frosty cold. The fridge operates on AC as well as onboard power. If it gets hot out, you can crank up the air conditioning, which has worked great since day one, or pop open the original-equipment skylight, which I installed in the vent of the roof a few years ago. The canvas for the pop-top and all screens are in good condition. I recently replaced the tires with a new set of Toyo brand tires, designed especially for Vanagons (to carry the extra weight). These tires come highly recommended from all seasoned Vanagon owners.

I am asking a starting price of $4000, which is a very fair price determined by the Kelley Blue Book estimate. I will also entertain offers, give me a call and we can talk. This is a really excellent bus, in great condition, which will definitely put a smile on your face, and create a fun camping atmosphere for a relaxing weekend alone, or a memorable road trip with friends or family. It has been like a family member to us, but we unfortunately can no longer afford to keep it. Please feel free to call me with any questions, or if you want to come take a look.

Thanks,

Ben
