Traverse Technologies Inc. is seeking a talented entry to mid-level Flash/Flex developer to work full time as part of our engineering group. This is a small team of software developers, web developers, and other information technology experts focused on creating web-based GIS applications. We are looking for a person who enjoys, and is motivated by, working in a small company environment.
Traverse Technologies considers rich Internet application (RIA) development to be one of its core strengths and Flash/Flex as the primary RIA delivery platform. We are transitioning to the Flex 2+ platform and are looking for developers wanting work with this new technology. If you have Flex experience, this is your chance to help us leverage this technology in new and exciting ways. If you have Flash experience and want to move to Flex this is your opportunity to learn with a team of fellow Flash developers.
You will need to demonstrate design skills (e.g. color, user interface design conventions, usability considerations, layout, typography, etc.) to be considered. Your work must have some visual appeal, demonstrate ability for organized user interfaces, and been used as part of a product or web site. All candidates must be able to show a portfolio of Flash/Flex work as part of the interview process and describe their design and code contributions.
Duties & Responsibilities
The position reports to the engineering group leader and works as part of the software development team. The position's primary responsibilities are:
Be a Flex/ActionScript 3.0 coder on new and existing projects developing custom components and application layouts.
Maintain, extend, and improve existing ActionScript/MXML code base.
General HTML/DHTML/CSS/JavaScript page based scripting.
Participate in general application design, testing, and deployments with software engineering group.
Requirements
One to three years of experience in Flash based software development. This must include a version of Flash no earlier than Flash MX 2004.
Object-oriented ActionScript 2.0+ experience; AS 3.0 experience is ideal.
Experience/proficiency with Adobe Creative Studio tools such as Dreamweaver, Photoshop, etc.
Experience with dynamic web page generation technologies such as Java Server Pages, D/HTML, JavaScript, CSS, PHP, ASP.
Nice to have skills that will make you a stronger candidate:
Experience with Java and/or Java based application servers.
3D, CAD, or GIS software experience.
Demonstrated ability to generate user interface and other concept art for clients.
