Job Description:
Seeking an experienced database software engineer to lead several internal software development efforts.
Key Functions:
Will lead database development and administration on several internal client software efforts. Role may involve rapid prototype development working with other software engineers. Must be comfortable in a high visibility role with significant responsibility and business impact.
Required Education/Experience:
BS or equivalent and 3 years experience or MS or equivalent.
Desired Education/Experience:
• BS degree in computer science or related technical discipline; MS degree preferred.
• Minimum five years of experience designing and administering relational database systems.
Required Skills:
• Must be fluent in one, if not all, of the following database vendors: Oracle, PostGres, MySQL.
• Comfortable with many flavors of LINUX, specifically Fedora Core 4 and the OS hosting relational database systems.
• Strong database design skills and experience with SQL query optimizations, stored procedures, disaster recovery, and rapid software development in a high-energy environment.
• Must be able to manage both up and down a project's technical team and feel comfortable presenting in front of large groups if necessary.
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
Desired Skills:
• Ruby on Rails schema design and J2EE middle-tier development patterns highly desired.
• Datamining and knowledge of Open Source software tools & projects.
• Project management and technical support of business development.
Travel Statement:
This position will require overnight travel up to 5% of the time.
