New England Organ Bank

Hospital Relations Coordinator

Nurses with expertise, creativity, and dedication - enhancing and saving lives.

Our mission today as the oldest Organ Procurement Organization in the country is the same as it was when we began in 1968: to provide the opportunity for a family to donate their loved one’s organs and tissues so that others may live. It takes caring individuals with strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to achieve this goal. Last year in our region, over 700 lives were saved or enhanced through the gift of life.

The Hospital Relations Coordinator (HRC) is responsible for maximizing donation rates in large academic hospital settings by ensuring that standard hospital referral and family communication processes are in place. The HRC works across functions with all New England Organ Bank associates to facilitate a well-coordinated effort in service area hospitals.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Fostering strong working relationships with neuroscientists, intensivists, trauma surgeons, and other key physician groups as well as nursing staff and hospital leadership.

• Developing and implementing strategies designed to generate improved results

• Designing and delivering professional education presentations to key clinicians within hospital forums and committee structures.

• Providing facilitation and support during potential donor referrals and conducting prompt follow-up to identify process improvement opportunities.

Qualifications:

• MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in nursing, health administration, healthcare marketing, science or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.

• MINIMUM SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Solid knowledge of the health care delivery system. Prior experience in a clinical/patient care delivery role or strong working knowledge of clinical environment preferred. Demonstrated record of success in a health care marketing/sales role a plus.

• COMMUNICATION REQUIREMENTS: Excellent grammar, verbal and written communication skills. Able to interact well with customers and colleagues. Must possess multi-tasking abilities, attention to details, and be results-oriented.
